Using the Power of Local Government to Financially Empower Residents (presentation slides)
Across the country, almost 150 local governments – representing a range of geographies, political climates, and sizes – are leveraging their unique strengths to financially empower their residents. From providing one-on-one, professional financial counseling to connecting residents to safe banking to consumer financial protection, local government leaders are using programs and policies to help residents build their financial stability. This panel discussion, featuring speakers from Howard County, Maryland and national funding and technical assistance provider Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund, will highlight how and why cities are engaging in this work, along with financial empowerment intersections and case study examples.
This session is eligible for Certification Maintenance credits with the American Institute of Certified Planners.
